Take a Tour: GPE, City Tower

FEATURES / 21 MAY 2026

Come and take a tour with us of City Tower - a soaring 21-storey landmark above Basinghall Street. Spanning 139,399 sq ft, the site stands as GPE’s latest fully managed revamp in the heart of the Square Mile. Now shedding its former corporate shell, the tower has been reimagined with a softer, more residential rhythm - pairing hospitality-led interiors with sweeping skyline views across the City.

A Reinvention Above the Skyline

Just three minutes from Moorgate and within easy reach of Bank, Liverpool Street and St Paul’s, City Tower remains firmly anchored in the City’s commercial core, occupying one of the most connected and established addresses in London.

Long associated with the formal rhythms of City working, the Tower is shedding it's former corporate shell. Far more than a cosmetic upgrade, GPE has recast the building in a West End-inspired design language - warm in tone and tactile in finish - introducing a distinctly residential cadence more akin to Mayfair than Moorgate.

Fully Managed, Thoughtfully Crafted

Already part-transformed, multiple floors have already been dramatically reimagined, with another 77,000 sq ft set to follow suit. Each workspace is fully self-contained, operating as it's own raw and refined headquarters setting. Generous welcome lounges set the tone on arrival, flowing into enclosed meeting rooms, breakout zones and fully stocked kitchens that form the social heart of the floor.

Furnished and ready to occupy, six newly designed workspaces are currently available with floors ranging from 2,154 to 5,424 sq ft, comfortably accommodating teams of 24 to 48 desks. Each floor incorporates 1 to 4 meeting rooms, balanced by quieter corners and phone booths that enable focused work without disrupting the overall flow.

Amenity, Elevated

City Tower’s amenity offer extends the experience well beyond the desk. On Level 3, a landscaped shared garden introduces a rare pocket of calm within the Square Mile.

Winding paths, layered planting and generous seating combine to create an outdoor retreat where tenants can reset between meetings or host informal conversations in the open air – a considered counterpoint to the pace of the streets below.

Above it all, Skyline Twenty-One occupies the 21st floor as a hospitality-inflected lounge and event destination. Anchored by a statement bar and wrapped in panoramic outlooks, the space unfolds across a series of distinct settings: a boardroom, library, collaboration zones and quieter focus areas.

Design Without Excess

In design terms, City Tower brings a new sensibility to it's setting - introducing texture and tonal warmth into a postcode long defined by sharp edges and corporate uniformity.

Exposed services are treated in soft, considered hues while bold biophilia threads nature through every floor. Layered materials and curated artwork add depth and distinction, creating spaces that feel composed rather than corporate.

Above all, the building is shaped by light and proportion. Expansive dual-aspect floorplates draw daylight deep into the plan, and at the upper levels, uninterrupted skyline views lend perspective to the working day.

Basinghall Walk

The reinvention continues at street level, where Basinghall Walk introduces a newly pedestrianised stretch along London Wall. Thoughtfully landscaped public spaces and a mix of cafés and eateries extend the building’s presence, while strengthening it's connection to the City around it.

And of course, connectivity remains exceptional, with six underground stations within walking distance and Moorgate just three minutes away.

The Next Chapter for the Square Mile

In a district long defined by pace and precision, GPE has established an authentic counterpoint to it's financial district setting. Marking the next chapter in its evolution of fully managed workplaces, City Tower brings a more human, design-led sensibility.

From expansive floorplates to sky-high lounges and vibrant street corners, it unfolds as a workplace that feels considered, connected and entirely contemporary.
