BLOCK snaps up Birmingham and Manchester
sites with £6m UK expansion drive
NEWS / 28 APRIL 2026
Flexible workspace operator, BLOCK, is bolstering its national footprint with a £6m investment, having landed two major sites in Manchester and Birmingham. The deal lifts BLOCK’s UK reach from four to six sites, marking its debut in the North West and West Midlands as it pushes into new territory this summer. Here’s everything you need to know…
Slated to open in August, BLOCK’s Manchester site takes prime position at the city's poignant landmark and first ever skyscraper, Sunlight House. Located on Quay Street, just off of Deansgate, the recently refurbished Art Deco building stands in the thick of Manchester's central business district, catering to the city's surging demand for premium flexible workspace.
Meanwhile, in Birmingham, BLOCK is set to open in late July at a Grade A Office building, One Colmore Square, a site that sits in the heart of the city’s prestigious business district. This investment will signal the launch of the operator’s hospitality-led workspace model in the West Midlands, as BLOCK continues its rapid expansion: targeting SMEs, scale-ups and corporate occupiers.
Ben Cheriton, BLOCK’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the power of their expansion: "These signings mark an important point in the growth of the business and reflect our ambition to build a national platform.”
Since launching in 2021 and growing steadily from its South West base, BLOCK now operates in Plymouth, Exeter, Taunton and Bristol. The operator has developed a sweet-spot for blending flexible offices with lifestyle-driven facilities, such as coffee shops, fitness suites and yoga studios.
Commenting on the company’s latest national stretch, Cheriton explains: “Manchester and Birmingham are both strong office markets with sustained demand for high-quality, flexible space. Securing buildings of this calibre allows us to deliver our product in locations where we know it will resonate with occupiers. Following our recent investment, we are well positioned to continue expanding and to move quickly on further opportunities."
BLOCK’s acquisition of these prevalent city sites underscores its growing momentum in the flexible office space sector, with the £6m investment set to accelerate its expansion into key UK markets.
