Meet Topaz - the technology partner powering some of the UK's biggest names in real estate
FEATURES / 26 MARCH 2026
In today’s workplace, technology is no longer simply a support function. It is the infrastructure that underpins collaboration, tenant experience, operational efficiency - and ultimately, the value of a building itself. Few organisations understand this better than TOPAZ Technology Group. Dive deeper into the operators harnessing its expertise below...
With more than two decades of experience delivering high-performance AV and workplace technology environments, TOPAZ has quietly carved out a reputation as a driving force behind some of the UK’s most sophisticated workplaces, supporting complex, multi-tenanted buildings across the UK and internationally.
The firm’s client roster certainly speaks volumes. Partnering with some of the industry’s biggest household names - including renowned landlords and workspace providers such as British Land and Great Portland Estates (GPE), Co-Space and NewFlex - TOPAZ adopts a consultative-led approach.
Rather than prescribing one-size-fits-all solutions, the team works closely with clients to design technology ecosystems aligned with their wider workplace strategy, particularly within the complex world of multi-tenanted buildings and managed workspaces. And within the rapidly evolving flex and landlord-led workspace sector, that expertise is proving invaluable.
The reality behind powering modern buildings
Delivering technology within landlord-managed buildings is no easy feat. In these environments, where hundreds of occupiers may rely on the same systems every day, systems must be intuitive for first-time users, robust enough to withstand constant use, and flexible enough to evolve as workplace expectations change.
This is precisely the environment TOPAZ Technology Group specialises in. From full meeting room rollouts and executive boardrooms to collaboration hubs and large-scale event spaces, the team focuses on delivering a seamless user experience - whether for tenants, a first-time visitor or event host. Behind that simplicity, however, lies carefully engineered infrastructure designed to perform reliably under the pressures of a modern workplace.
Tim Darwell-Taylor, Group Chief Commercial Officer at TOPAZ Technology Group tells Flex and The City: “In modern multi-tenanted buildings, technology must work first time, every time - for people who may never have used the space before. Our role is to remove friction completely, so occupiers can focus on their work rather than the tools. That means designing infrastructure that is intuitive on the surface but exceptionally robust behind the scenes, capable of supporting thousands of interactions every day while remaining flexible enough to evolve as workplace needs change.”
This philosophy underpins the firm’s work across numerous major landlord portfolios, where technology plays a central role in shaping experience-led workplaces while maintaining consistency across entire estates.
Inside the infrastructure: 1 Triton Square
For more than seven years, TOPAZ has been responsible for delivering enterprise-grade AV environments across the expanding Storey portfolio, forming the technological backbone behind the brand’s managed workspace offering. One of the most notable examples can be found within 1 Triton Square at Regent’s Place, where meeting rooms, boardrooms and collaboration environments have all been carefully designed around a seamless ‘plug-and-play’ user experience.
At the core is a fully integrated Q-SYS ecosystem, enabling consistent performance across the building while providing the resilience required for a multi-tenanted environment. Large-format LED displays create a striking visual focal point within the collaboration spaces, bringing presentations and events to life. Meanwhile, the underlying infrastructure has been engineered to allow upgrades and future enhancements to be introduced without disruption - a critical consideration for buildings operating at this scale.
Across the Estate: GPE's City Tower
A similar philosophy can be seen in TOPAZ’s work with leading landlord GPE, where the firm serves as the incumbent AV integrator across the landlord’s managed workspace estate. Here, the objective extends beyond individual installations - the goal is to create a consistent, standardised technology experience across the portfolio, ensuring tenants encounter familiar, easy-to-use environments wherever they work.
A flagship example is City Tower in EC2, where TOPAZ is delivering AV systems as part of a multi-phase transformation of the building. Early stages introduced standardised meeting room environments designed around simple BYOD connectivity, enabling occupiers to walk into a room and start a meeting instantly, while maintaining a consistent user interface across floors.
The project also includes the delivery of a top-tier amenity and events destination on Level 21. ‘Skyline Twenty-One’ will sit above it all, featuring advanced LED display technology to support presentations, corporate gatherings and tenant events. By completion, TOPAZ will have deployed AV infrastructure across the entirety of the tower’s twenty-one floors.
Beyond Installation
Beyond delivering flagship projects, TOPAZ’s involvement often continues long after the initial installation phase. In many cases, the company provides ongoing managed AV services, ensuring systems remain operational, proactively maintained, and aligned with the evolving needs of both tenants and building teams.
This long-term partnership model is evident across the portfolio within the GPE estate, where TOPAZ has delivered meeting room upgrades and specialist AV environments at locations including 141 Wardour Street, 19 Wells Street, 170 Piccadilly and 31 Alfred Place, among others.
Looking ahead
As more landlords continue to rethink how buildings operate - from amenity spaces and shared meeting environments to fully managed workspace offerings - the role of carefully integrated technology is becoming more integral than ever.
With more than 20 years of experience and partnerships spanning some of the UK’s most influential landlords and workspace providers, TOPAZ Technology Group has quietly helped shape the technology environments behind many of these flagship developments - from Storey’s 1 Triton Square to GPE’s City Tower - enabling buildings to function seamlessly day in, day out while supporting the wider ambitions of the workplaces they serve. And together with its connectivity and MSP partners TOPAZ is now taking that one step further.
As workplace expectations continue to climb, more landlords will no doubt find themselves turning to specialist partners like TOPAZ to design, deliver and support technology environments, at both building and portfolio scale.
